it's like saying military funding is why we have radar and shit- while that was the reason that technology was discovered at that time, i certainly think we could have found it out without it being tied to wasteful eccentric spending

I'm just not sure anyone else would've pumped as much money and effort into electric vehicles when Musk did. I'll give him credit for accelerating the electric car market growth. I just think he was the right guy to propel that industry at a time where there wasn't a huge interest yet.
