Thats how it is in most places. And its funny how a lot of people get (insert culture here)'s food and they get beef. Good example is Korean. Theres a VERY good chance that most native Koreans never had beef a day in their life but when people get "Korean" food they get Korean BBQ beef or the like. Which was typically for the very very well off and not the common food of the people until VERY recently.

A lot of that has to do with cultures mixing. I mean, there is the fact that beef is way more prevalent in some countries then what they normally would put in the food so they just substitute it.

For example, while Eggplant Parmigiana is an Italian dish, Chicken Parmigiana is American, strictly because chicken was easier to get and cheaper then eggplant back in the 19th century when Italians were immigrating.
