quantity comes in the later half of the contest as personal favourites become unsustainable and broader popularity and general likeability converges

of course there's also people who take for granted their real favs popularity in favour of niche pushes (alternatively those satisfied with their favs past successes), but I'd agree with VI that most boots are characters that simply just aren't anyone's actual favourites
