Well, I guess it depends on your definition of "works," since it's a repressive regime built on a series of economic bubbles, illegal trade practices, and intellectual theft, as well as actively employing slavery and still engaging in genocide. Not to mention that most of the turn-around involves fixing problems that the CCP themselves caused within the past century which included, among other things, more genocide, slavery, and mass murder.

In fact, if the CCP never existed, the country would probably be in a better state today in many ways.
