I think because setting up movies that might be good in the future doesn't make the show that set them up good. As another user said earlier, they seemed to just use this show as a vehicle to pump out explanations for future projects and put the bare minimum effort into actually making the show itself good. A little like that scene in Batman vs superman where they just flat out show a commercial for all the other movies for 5 minutes.
