Yeah, material prices here are so high because of covid related issues that building a new house isn't competetive. On top of that, there was a concerted effort by holding companies to buy houses. It's essentially, you bid an arbitrary amount over asking price and just hope. I get the keys for s house next week. I only got it because the sellers actually live next door and wanted to live next to people buying it to live in it instead of renting it out.
