I have an aunt who is deathly afraid of disease. She won't go into a house if a sick person has been there within a week. Sanitizes her house top to bottom three times a day. Has refused to attend parties where someone with cancer is in attendance, for fear of 'catching' the cancer (yes, I know). She's also refused to take Covid seriously for months. Mask under nose, if she wore it at all. Now she doesn't wear one at all. Obviously unvaccinated. Still goes out to bars and concerts all the time. Hell if I know how any of this gets rationalized in her head. But then, she's also a massive QANONer, and I wouldn't be surprised if he had a Helga Pitaki-style Trump shrine in her closet.
