Though McGilded definitely had a plan to escape his crime, if he believed in the rumors, then he knew his number was already up since he was guilty as sin, so perhaps a Guilty verdict because he takes a gamble on Ryunosuke wouldnt be the worst case scenario. Especially when you consider that escaping the courtroom via Gina is also an option, and might even serve as a way to evade the curse since he technically got the correct verdict. The trade off would be that he has to spend the rest of his days evading the law, but thats not hard for a guy with his resources in a time before modern surveillance. --- Agent Triple Zero at your service!
