All you have to do is create enough reasonable doubt to convince the jurors the trial should continue. Like, the idea that the knife fell from the window isn't based on any real evidence at the time. Ryunosuke just had to craft a scenario where that COULD have happened (and Van Zieks dashes the logic behind it minutes later!). Speaking of Van Zieks, he's been really good in this case. It felt like he didn't do much in case 3 (not a great way to establish the competence of a prosecutor by having the guilty party run circles around him, but I guess it was more to establish the concept of the Reaper's Curse and that no one escapes it), but he's been on top of things here. --- ...
