The defendant is a "Bunnybrained" kooky professor, Albert Harebrayne. The explosion killed his investor and mafia don Odious Man. He swore it was an accident.

We visited Van Zieks in his office. He looks no worse for the wear, despite taking a bullet to the head. He also introduced us to his new apprentice, a mysterious masked man who might be Graydon in disguise.
There's also a giant ass portrait on his wall who's actually NOT Van Zieks. Perhaps it's either his father or his brother who died and that would make him a mirror image to Phoenicius.

We also learned that the professor and the Reaper were college mates. And that he was a soft boy (and the darling babby of the Van Zieks clan) during college but something happened that that made him the cold and ruthless Reaper that we know now.

This is all very intriguing backstory. It'll be interesting to see Al's reaction to his buddy Van Zieks being a cold blooded monster in the courtroom tomorrow.

But now it's time to visit the Great Exhibition to see wacky turn-of-the-century science and arts! ...oh, and there's the crime scene too.
