The US werent really prepared to nation-build in Afghanistan but Im not really sure who would. Outside of the cities the people are disconnected from the outside world and are just concerned with day to day survival. They are a very poor country with low literacy rates. Imagine trying to teach them a complicated concept like democracy, let alone the logistics of it.
