I think people would just like to see an end to the double standard. We know there would be outrage if the races were reversed. There always is. But even when actual historical real white people are portrayed on screen by non-whites, we're told we aren't allowed to get upset about that either. (For the hard of reading, I'm not saying Jill Valentine is a real historical person.)

We're also told it isn't happening, but simultaneously that it's a good thing that it is happening, and it's racist to be bothered by it because it's progress.

That's because "reversing the races" doesn't actually reverse the situations. Because the races are not in the same situation. One has been excluded from the plum roles in media for its entire existence, up until literally the last decade. The other is the group that monopolized those roles. This is like saying that stealing 10k from a working class man and 10k from Bezos is the same. It's not, it's a false equivalence. To say "just reverse the races and you'd realize it's wrong" relies of the conceit of ignoring what the two things being exchanged actually are.
