Topic	This Afghanistan situation really is so sad
Blighboy 08/20/21 5:09:16 PM #9:	I cannot personally attest to the accuracy of this, but I was reading a post online saying that immediately after the invasion of Afghanistan the Taliban mostly dissolved and most Taliban members abandoned the organization as a lost cause. And that it wasn't until a few years later that membership started to surge again as a response to US occupation. I'm definitely interested in learning more about the Taliban specifically after this. There's lots of talk out there about the corruption and ineffectiveness of the Afghan government, but not as much about how the Taliban specifically were able to maintain such influence and power while in hiding. --- I have no idea whether or not he's a racist, but apparently there are recordings of him using racial slurs so it's a distinct possibility. <cite>Blighboy posted [p:957274826] in This Afgha...
