America is technically still owned by the British Arguably, that would only apply to the 13 colonies, since all other territorial gains didn't occur under British authority. So the Louisiana Territory would still be French, California/Texas/Florida/etc would still be Spanish, and so on. Though if we're going to dismiss "theft = ownership" and "possession is 9/10ths of the law" as binding principles, then the British wouldn't hold any claim over anything in America at all because it would all still belong to Native Americans.
