It does not understand structure or pacing or horror at all. Just throwing monsters going "LBAHGHGHSHGHAJKFg!" at you in dull gray corridors over and over for several hours It has a couple of cute touches likes making limb shots important and headshots worthless, invalidating decades of shooter assumptions. But it's a pretty weak series. There's a reason why it ultimately failed. It's possibly the only franchise in history where the best entry into the series was a cash in on rails shooter. Compared to horror games like Silent Hill or Resident Evil or Pathologic it's poor And compared to sci-fi games like Mass Effect or Alien Isolation it's poor.
