But what are the jokes? Entertainment generates a certain emotion for reasons. A comedy isn't funny just because it's comedy. God, no wonder people find shit like Paul Blart funny. They're just clapping monkeys laughing because others are laughing because comedy is funny.

That's no different than the Hollywood Foreign Press circlejerking some award bait just because it's topical and trying to make them cry.

Things have meaning. You consume the entertainment and it generates an emotion and a reaction for a reason.

What is the message that is being conveyed that is funny. What is the absurdity? Why are we pretending that comedy has never been appraised. Acting like jokes are just random combinations of words that magically generate laughter? If everyone doesn't have to find a movie to be sad because it's trying to be sad, then a comedy isn't funny to everyone just because it's a comedy.

The problem here is that you're needlessly overthinking the punchline while others have already laughed at it and moved on to the next joke.

Don't bother with VD, he's just upset that minorities are considered people.

Uh oh, there goes DrizztLinko going around projecting his own personal issues to others again.

I swear people just love to ramble on for no reason.

Except dumb dumbs, including many on CE, get their views on social issues from comedians

Just because comedians offer a different perspective on various, absurd social norms based on their experiences doesn't necessarily negate their insight, but you're not completely wrong.
