Each round is single-elimination. You lose the set, you are eliminated from the tournament.
Each matchup set will be a best-of-3 series
The first match will be any Final Destination (Omega) or Battlefield Variant stage
The second match will be any legal stage that the higher/better seed chooses (the list of legal stages will be released later)
If a third match is required, it will be a Final Destination (Omega) if a Battlefield Variant was the first match and vice versa.
Matches will have a time-limit of 7 minutes with 3-stocks for each fighter.
If Sudden Death occurs, the match will be reset, and whoever takes a stock first wins the match
The playoffs will not have a bracket due to unpredictability of upsets. In the 2nd round, the highest remaining seed will face the lowest remaining seed, the 2nd highest remaining against the 2nd lowest remaining.. Obviously, the finals are between the two remaining fighters.
In the event a playoff contender is disqualified during the playoffs:
If during the first round, the best eliminated contestant from play-in will be made the #8 seed and every other fighter is bumped up one seed until that spot is filled (This will occur if there are more than one disqualified fighter).
If during the 2nd round, the fighter that lost to the disqualified fighter will take their place
If, God forbid, during the finals, the fighter that lost to the disqualified fighter will take their place
Just like during the play-in, every fighter is available to use and a contestant may switch between fighters as often as they like
Special rule for the CHAMPIONSHIP Round
The only rule for the championship round is that the first and 3rd matches have to be on Final Destination (Omegas are excluded) or Final Destination (Battlefield Variant). It's the FINAL match for crying out loud!!!
This tournament is open for contestants and those who want to watch for fun alike. That being said, if the tournament is a success, I will need an assistant to open up a 2nd arena. As I cannot be there, I am relying on said assistant to adhere to the rules set above as the official for making sure fighters abide by stage rules and accurate results are reported to me.
If a rule is broken during a match, I will simply reset the match (regardless if the fighters notice that they broke a rule before or after the void match is over).
Final Notes about the tournament beforehand:
Please sign up ahead of time so I have an accurate count and know how to plan fights
If you do not know if you're schedule is free that weekend, and need to sign up at the last second if you find you are free, then I will of course still accept any fighters at any point. You can at least let me know if you're thinking about it.
Please look at the schedule that will be listed below before signing up
Please use your best judgement in deciding if you'll be able to make it
Of course, you can always reverse your decision. I know life is a little hard to schedule sometimes
The Tournament Schedule (Subject to Change)
October 22nd
Will start approximately 7 E.T. on that Friday
We will try to get every FD stage done first
If the schedule is clean, we will start BF Variant stage matches too
October 23rd
Will start approximately 7 E.T. on that Saturday
We will try to get every Battlefield Variant stage done
We will try to get any remaining matches done from yesterday
Disqualifications will be made if necessary
If the schedule is clean, we will start the first round of playoffs
October 24th (Playoff Tournament)
Will start approximately 7 E.T. on that Sunday (obviously we will work around playoff contender schedules as well)
Disqualifications will be made if necessary
We will finish the tournament
Keep in mind, you technically don't have to show up on the 22nd. If you do not, though, you are at risk for disqualification as we need the matches done by the 23rd.
