Gaming as a whole is held back by the mindless fanboys it has.
It needs a good scare like with the movie industry about a decade ago. Piracy fucked them up pretty badly. They tried suing everybody, which just made them look worse and didn't work. So they gave in.
Did you know that if you buy a Disney Blu Ray, you get 4 copies with it? 1 BR, 1 DVD and 2 digital codes.
Now both those digital codes can be redeemed at two different Movie Anywhere accounts. That allows you to connect and copy all your movies between all 8 of the big digital platforms (iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, etc). It can be anybody's accounts.
So with one copy, you can give a potential 20 people access to the movie.
Nintendo and Sony out here putting limits on fucking demos because they're afraid they'll lose a sale or some shit. Nintendo didn't even have a proper account system till the Switch because they were afraid you'd share it with your other consoles/family/friends.
Part of it goes back to Japanese companies being way too conservative and stingy. Microsoft tries to be better, but with the other 2 clowns around, they don't really have to.
Never seen any movie come with two separate codes for a single movie.
