I wasn't aware at the time they'd eat solid food until one of the tabbies climbed 3 stairs and was eating dry food that was for the others. So I got some wet/softer food and all of them came to eat. The mother didn't seem to mind me delicately petting them or crouched next to them. One even came and investigated me. They're so soft and small I feel like I'm going to break them from the slightest petting. Bonus The cat whisperer!!
