I'm on VNDB myself (same username as here), though I mainly use it to track my wishlist (mostly games I own but haven't played!). I would like to get to Making Lovers, eventually.

Yeah one of the biggest issues I had with KnS is that the investigation segments basically allot you a limited amount of clicks. Also, some things have to be clicked on two or three times before they cough up the proper results.

I don't think I've read any Key except for the quickies -- Harmonia and Planetarian. I'd like to finish Kanon and Air before tackling Clannad.
