Like chic fil a buffers everything. They keep dozens of Buns pre toasted, a dozen or more reg chicken sammies in a warming chute, and boxes of nuggets in the chutes as well. What this allows them to do is serve a shit ton of customers at one time, regardless (to an extent) of order sizes. I work there. The whole model is meant to work optimally when they're busy. No food is fast when it's made to order. It's fast when they can sell shit(mostly chicken and waffle fries in this case) as fast as they can make it.
