He went off on the Transportation Secretary after he took time off for the birth of his adopted twins that he and his husband, Chasten welcomed recently But Joe was outraged and said while the country is suffering from the supply chain crisis, he was off being a wussy "manny" since mid-August Lonsdale is the co-founder of global software giant Palantir Technologies and current managing partner of BVC who was reacting on 8th Dwarf's Joe Rogan's podcast as Rogan AGREED and said men should not be entitled to paid time off to spend with newborn and said that is a woman's role Bridget Phetasy, the stand up comic who was also there disagreed and said he should get paternity leave like women and her relatives in Germany get a significant time off to spend with newborn Rogan said "The idea that both parents should get maternity and paternity leave at the same time is a little weird" He shot back at her and said "That's great. You wanna live in Germany? Go live there. This is America, you gotta work if you want to earn your worth in this country. Real men work" He also noted small business owners do not have the luxury of taking paternity leave and said while father's play a role in raising children, that doesn't mean they should get paternity leave Phetasy pushed back and said "It's not just about the baby, the mom needs support in the aftermath of giving birth. It's not just a bond with the kid. It feels like we don't have the same social cohesion and family structures that we used to have" She lamented that families and extended families no longer live near each other and make it harder to support young mothers giving birth Rogan added "We're not in Europe, this is better. This is America, this is a new concept. When someone in government, who is a man, who didnt give birth, and there is 2 of them, and they are both fof work, and they get free money or what happens? You have more lazy american men reducing the male role in this society that america has built. This is America's men. This is our society" Alex O'Hanian, the husband of Serena Williams responded to this with a news story on the benefits of paternity leave and said "the correct masculine response is to do whatever it takes for your family + newborn. No one should have to choose between the ICU/NICU and keeping their job" Garry Tan, co-founder of Initiliazed Capital also agreed with him and said they have 4 months leave for their employees to make everyone feel they could do it with families.
