Topic | New Rule: Words Matter |
David1988 10/30/21 12:20:42 AM #24: | Kolibri X posted... Language itself is infinitely mutable and has and always will be mutated for the sake of political reasons. Bill thinks we are standing on solid ground, but the truth is we are treading water and its time he learns how to swim. But you know what isn't mutable? The concept itself. Lets say that there are roses and someone goes, "well, I think weeds should be roses too, and you should also believe this." If they have enough power and enough people go along with it, the word will change. But the concept hasn't. The fact is, there are differences between weeds and roses and now there isn't an arrangement of symbols to properly distinguish them. A clever person can then fill in that gap and the concept that others sought to distort returns again. His mistake is he thinks the symbolic representations of concepts are sacred, not the concepts themselves. This doesn't mean we shouldn't be wary of them doing this and resist of such political manipulation. A good post? On my CE? --- "Let's be honest...I'm everybody's type.
