| MJOLNRVII 11/29/21 2:50:29 PM #40: | In MK9 if you didn't buy let's say Rain for example then you had the option of downloading an optional compatibility update so that you'd be able to fight him in your game. If you don't download this then you stop everyone you play against from having the option to use Rain, so you could essentially buy DLC for a game that doesn't do anything if your opponent says no. DLC characters need to be included in updates, so ofc you aren't downloading the whole character Imagine if you're playing Borderlands or some shit and the compatibility updates were optional there too, so then some of your DLC guns just stop existing in your inventory when you join a random game.
