Youre simply allowing yourself to be active on the DD platform and allowing for deliveries to be sent to you. Theres no quota. You dont have to schedule. There are no bosses. Every single order in and of itself is an individual job.

As an independent contractor, you have free reign to accept or decline each order/job as you see fit. Not worth it? Dont take it. Dont fee like delivering on a day? Dont turn on the app.

This is where it is much different than someone waiting tables and such. An employee in that instance has no choice or the right to refuse service. As long as DD classifies delivery drivers as independent contractors, this difference will always exist. You seem to think there is some sort of obligation drivers have to accept every order, but the simple fact of the matter is that every order is different, and the vast majority of what DD throws at us isnt worth the cost of gas alone, let alone the time.

DD actually used to require a certain acceptance rate, if I understand correctly, but they got into hot water with that due to the classification of drivers as IC, so thats why there is no penalty for declining as many orders as possible.

And this is probably why it sucks as a service, tbh... And I don't use the app for that reason, and many more. In all honesty, I really hope it dies out... And eventually, with the amount of declines that are apparently happening, it could just get worse. And it sucks they can give out penalties for low acceptance rates, anymore. Maybe if they were allowed to, more people would get their food... Especially if they would have allowed multiple orders going to the same area...
