Then why call it a phobia? That makes no sense. That's a big part of the problem with modern discourse, the side that people should be agreeing with desperately needs to hire a linguist to help them. They suck at words.

I love when people pretend they are incapable of speaking language outside of very specific dictionary definition of terms. Apparently everyone is a third-grade English-teaching nun who makes you repeat yourself if you use a contraction or slang, at least when it benefits them to be.

There are thousands of things the human race says every day that divert from the original or literal definition of a term. Linguistics is more than reading the dictionary.
