so if your best friend immediately hooked up with your ex-fianc a mere day after you two called the engagement off, you wouldn't care at all?
The difference here is, as I said, dishonesty matters. Context matters.

If Im engaged, and we call off our engagement and break up, she is free to do whatever she wants. I am free to do whatever I want. My friends are free to do whatever they want.

Would I be sad about us breaking up? Probably. Would I end a friendship over this? Not if nobody was dishonest about anything.

Bruh. There is nothing arbitrary about this. Romantic relationships are the most personal relationships that exist. They're intimate, sexual, emotional, and deep--at least, mine have been.

I can only think of two reasons why you'd be so nonchalant about this:

1.) You've never been in a truly deep, intimate relationship with a romantic partner you truly loved

or

2.) You don't have a best friend who means more to you than any other friend, whom you trust and respect like family
So because I have a different view on things and different priorities in life, I have never been in love or have never had a best friend?

Maybe youre just insecure.
