if youre on console then i say to just go with the flow and see how the game plays out
but as someone that games equally on console and pc, stardew valley is definitely one of the games i recommend playing on pc instead. it can be run on pretty much anything, and being able to mod the game genuinely does enhance the experience

that said, the game IS really vague with direction sometimes, so imo its not a bad thing to check the wiki every now and then to get pointed in the right direction
