Im not going super hardcore, just playing at a normal pace. Thats crazy that nothing grows in the winter though. Im going to need to stockpile some gold for the winter then I think.

Not quite true that *nothing* grows. You can plant winter seeds, that produce random forage items. They don't sell for too much but it's something.

What I did on my first winter was make about a dozen kegs. Try to save some hops and wheat and turn them into beer throughout the winters. You can also work on leveling up your fishing. I never really felt like you could make a ton of money fishing though. Beer and wine does very well, especially once you pick the artisan perk.

Oh and your chickens will keep making eggs, you can turn them into mayonnaise and sell that too.
