Topic	Why is it considered an honor to just stand at a building?

I mean back when countries weren't so stable and you had people willing to attempt assassinations every few months, sure... You're literally laying your life to guard an important person; but today...? They're just glorified doormen, opening doors and walking back and forth. Why is that considered an honor?
