I use to feel the same. But it depends how you use them. If you use them in a spot where it makes them appear to have a different meaning than originally intended, you did add a spin. Which, most "original" jokes are old jokes with new spins these days. Also, all memes are are picture forms of what we always did. Which was use quotes and references from movies/shows in a different context or a similar context to how they were originally used. This is just a different version of doing that.
