Yes and the answer is pretty obvious, because they view the fetus as a human life. They don't want a human life to get killed. I see nothing wrong about being non-religious and being against abortion (both sides are actually anti-abortion).

The problem is I think the idea behind it is misguided. Making abortion illegal or criminalizing it doesn't do anything to solve the actual problem, unwanted pregnancies. The problem is most people on the "pro-life" side are actively fighting against measures that can prevent unwanted pregnancies from happening. Most pro-lifers, for some reason, are against sex ed and contraceptives as well and try to push "abstinence only" movement that has shown to do the exact opposite. Like as soon as the baby is born, a lot of pro-lifers don't seem to give a shit about the baby because they refuse the idea of the mom receiving financial support for taking care of the baby, which makes me feel that they are using it as more of a punishment than "taking responsibility" which ultimately hurts the baby's chance of success than help it.
