I dont understand americas obsession with them

i was standing at LAX or some other American airport and from my position I could see three different Starbucks. I tried one and it was shit. Why so many? Are they owned by the same person or are they competing with each other?

they tried launching Starbucks in Australia and they were a huge failure because their coffee was so shit, like it was even worse than McDonalds coffee let alone real coffee stores

i even tried just Starbucks beans off the shelf and they werent as good as any other beans, I feel like I tainted my coffee machine somewhat just grinding two cups worth and i scooped the beans out and put them in the trash

i just dont understand America
