Everyone shits on the plot twist toward the end, but it didn't bother me when I played it in 2006.

Overall a decent JRPG story with a few solid characters. It held my interest through its 70-hour runtime, and I never had to force myself to finish it like with other JRPGs of that length (I'm looking at you, Xenoblade 2). For what it's worth, I found SO3's story far more enjoyable than SO2.

Fayt Leingod for stupidest JRPG protagonist name. Yes, it is worse than stuff of legends like Asbel, Edge and Jude Maverick, Duran chips and Benjamin.

Racking my brain to come up with something worse, but I think you're right. "Fayt" is so on-the-nose that it's cringey.

A bunch of the cast being optional meant some characters you spent the first half of the game getting attached to did basically nothing for the second half, and that drags everything down into a spiral.

This is a good point. Albel Nox and Nel are the Vincent and Yuffie of SO3.
