Pretty sure Nickelodeon gave the game barely any budget and a strict deadline. So the devs tried to make the best thing they could and focused solely on the main gameplay. So it ends up as a game with no casual appeal due to lacking various game modes and voice acting.

I hope multiversus is good. Seems like 2v2 is going to be the standard format which might be the real thing it needs to set it apart from smash.

It's a very smart move because it also takes away some of the pressure and anxiety from playing a fighting game, because that's one of the hardest hurdles for most people since fighters tend to be 1vs1. I really hope the game is good as well so Smash can finally have a worthy competitor that isn't an indie game.
