Sometimes I rewatch that movie and totally forget those subplots were in the movie bc I'm literally just watching for the Joker. It is sort of funny in retrospect that even though there was no reason for them to do so, they decided to insert a blatantly obvious actually, living in a surveillance state is necessary to combat terrorism, and its good as long as the people running it have noble intentions! narrative into the story.
