ehhhh XB2 does have a separate main story but the end chapters very strongly connect it to the first

as a XB1 fan playing XB2 that stuff got me mad hype, and it's hard to imagine XB3 not continuing off of that

X on the otherhand yeah it's pretty much entirely separate, not counting the XB2 DLC that I can't imagine being canon

this isn't really true at all? like yeah there are lots of quests but you don't at all have to do them and most are passive auto-complete stuff. If you do all the sidequests you will be wildly overleveled for the main game anyways.

I personally enjoyed the sidequests because the world building is great (always love a Majora's Mask Bombers Notebook system), but I don't think it would be up your alley and as such you can skip it
