My gfs mom had one that just past away a few months ago, possibly due to cancer. He was adopted after he came from a home were he was abused and mistreated so he was very cautious around people, except for my gfs mom. He liked to act like a tough, irritable old man, but deep down he was a sweet dog who also liked affection, to be hand fed and for people to occasionally play and roughhouse with for a bit. I remember him coming around whenever we gathered together and would eat lunch or dinner for family occasions, beg for food and I'd share a tiny bit of my meal with him. My favorite thing he would do is whenever my gf would go to give her mother a hug is he'd walk up behind her and bite at her pant leg or ankle socks and try to pull them apart, but he wouldn't do that to me or my gfs father. Hilarious stuff. I miss that dog.
