After discussing this at great length with Chris, I'm curious at hearing what others have to say. I'm sure he'll go "I can't believe you're taking this here" but it doesn't hurt, and I don't mean this as an "I told you so", this is a discussion I think has value.

Is it ever possible to make a "right" decision in mafia and still lose?

In comparison: in poker, you can make the "right" decision and still lose. If you have (Ks-Qs) with a table of (As-10d-9h-4s-5s) and have raised and been called each round until now (pot commited), you wouldn't fold to a small all in by the other person. They could have (3s-2s), but that would require terribly bad play on their part.

Obviously, mafia =/= poker, but I include that to demonstrate how in some respects the "right " call can lead to a negative result. And obviously, nothing exists in a vacuum, especially in mafia.

But can you ever lose despite making the "right" call?
