It looks like a clarification is in order. Sunny Castform will not be in the Fire contest because it's not an official forme. It doesn't grant Castform a new typing or different stats, unlike Darmanitan (Zen Mode) and Heat Rotom, which have a different typing and stats from the base form.
It does gain a new typing when it changes form and it is official in the sense that there is official art for each of the forms, but you're right when it doesn't change base stats, I guess.
