Actually, I'd say SNK canon is an outright oxymoron. There are so many contradictions between games it's unbelievable. If you go back to the original source material for all the non-KoF originating characters you'd have a hard time explaining how such a tournament could even be run. And even if you think of just KoF canon, there are still some big issues. It's best to think of each game just being loosely associated with any other.
