really don't understand why people still buy consoles -_- at least I can't see myself buying another console until they get with the times and embrace digital distribution, retailers are a pointless middleman that inflates costs and robs developers of their profits and optical media just serves to create long load times and increase likelyhood of system failure(going back to last gen most hardware problems with consoles have been DRE's, the PS2, 360, and wii have all had notable problems with their disc drives)
Disc media doesn't effect load times when it comes to installing games, same with PC games. Also, Steam is a middleman that developers other than Valve have to pay. As for why consoles, it's convenient having a game system where you don't have to worry about requirements (my PC explodes if I try newer games), plus chillin' on the couch it's good times.
