Well the series is a post apocalyptic scifi vampire horror fantasy western grab bag so I don't think modern weaponry would be that unfamiliar to him.
...Well, really when characters don't use swords or sorcery it tends more towards stuff like LAZORZ and power armor and stuff like that.
There's probably been some missile launchers and stuff but I can't really remember anything specific at this point.
