Not sure if you're just trolling, but that's because you're friends. In my close group we've got white people, Asians, Indians and me. Racial slurs are thrown about constantly. But the reason it's cool is because we're all friends and we know it's just a joke. It's not really something I can explain, but how people use the word can bother me sometimes, and others it's completely fine. Not even in the sense that they're calling somebody a "****ing n-word" or saying it in a joke.. It can have two different feelings in exactly the same context. Some people just can't hear the word ever... my sister for example HATES the word.
I think if you're making people uncomfortable from your use of the word, you should stop. That's it.
