First of all, censor bypass, you might want to edit your post (the mods are really cranky here).

Secondly, I don't think there is too much of a difference. Sure, it's a shock, but the person who raises you is the person you look to for motherly / fatherly advice. I'm sure there are kids out there who would freak out and see their non-blood-related parents differently, but I would at least hope that they make up the minority.

It's not like the situation changes at all. But, I do admit that my situation is different. I've grown up in an environment where blood is not thicker than water, so I'm a lot less blinded by the notion that blood-relation is all that matters and all that makes you family.
