Oh please, Raimi was the one who ruined Spider-Man 3. He took offense at being forced to include Venom, and made the whole thing as ****ty as he could on purpose in retaliation.
More along the lines of Raimi knew Venom wouldn't work for it and wanted to avoid it but was forced to include it.
