Voter ID laws are in fact used to suppress voting. The people who most aren't able to get IDs are the elderly, poor and minorities. Non citizens don't vote; that's nothing more than fear mongering by Republicans to scare people into supporting their extremist policies. As for your "just because you live here" line, you should check out the Constitution.
