Maybe cranberry.

We all eat the jams with turkey and such, and it isn't exactly called out as being a lesser fruit by any stretch, but people almost never even mention it outside of a couple autumn and winter holiday dinners (and even then, they mostly just talk about a jam/jelled/similarly processed form).

So its a reasonably nice fruit that, while most of us have had it and will continue occasionally having it, sees rather little mention for the merits of the actual fruit itself.


Alternatively, green grapes. Anytime people specify a particular version of grape, its usually the purple ones they like.
