I don't know if I like them. Some are okay, but I've never really heard one where I was like "Wow, this is better than the original!" Even if it's just like a crappy 8-bit song, I think that's part of the appeal, and that's lost when they make it all hi-fi with real instruments or good quality midi.


And don't get me started on metal covers, ugh. Does every goddamn piece of video game music need a metal cover? Because it sure seems like they exist for everything, even if the original style is something completely different. It usually isn't even an interesting arrangement, it's just somebody putting excessive drums in the background and playing the exact original melody on a distorted guitar
