It's my personal favorite. It was a long trek, but I thought it was a worthwhile one. And Hugo has such a way of establishing all these different plot threads and just when you think one has ended, NOPE, it's back to the forefront and is actually tied together with ANOTHER previously established plothread. I just love it.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame comes close though. You should try that, it's by the same author and of similar quality just much shorter.

I love me some Victor Hugo.
